Activate Stripe on Monetisation

  • Updated

Prerequisites

This guide is for account owners and administrators of Monetisation (Rise Up Monetisation) who need to accept online payments through the Stripe Connect path.

Before you start, confirm that:

  • You can sign in to the Monetisation backoffice as an account owner or admin.
  • You can receive email at the address used for your Monetisation account (Stripe uses it for the connected account).
  • You are working from a desktop web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge). Stripe-hosted onboarding is not supported in in-app browsers or embedded web views.
  • You will complete the Stripe form yourself. Do not forward onboarding links by email or chat: they are single-use and expose account-holder data.

Information to have ready (example for a French company — exact fields depend on your country, legal form, and Stripe's current Know Your Customer rules):

Topic Examples
Business Legal name, registered address, SIREN / SIRET, VAT number if you have one, business website
Legal form Company, sole trader, association, etc.
Representative Legal representative's full name, date of birth, personal address
Ownership Beneficial owners (people who own or control the business), as Stripe requests
Identity Government-issued ID if Stripe asks to verify a person
Payouts IBAN and account holder name for the account that should receive funds
Public details Support email / phone (what learners see on receipts and statements)

Stripe may ask for extra documents later if volume, risk, or regulation changes. That is normal.

Overview

Monetisation sells training through your catalog. With Stripe Connect, Stripe creates a connected Stripe account for your organisation, and you complete identity verification in Stripe's hosted form. You do not need to create API keys, webhook endpoints, or developer settings — Monetisation handles that on this path.

In practice, with Stripe Connect:

  • 1Payments are taken in your organisation's name: your name appears on the customer's statement, and you handle refunds and disputes in Stripe.
  • 2You get a full Stripe Dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com after onboarding.
  • 3Stripe bills your connected account for card processing.
  • 4Funds are paid out to your bank account on the payout schedule you choose in Stripe.

Monetisation stays connected to that Stripe account so checkout, invoices, quotes, and subscriptions on your catalog can run.

Disclaimer — product name
During onboarding you may see Yunoo or Rise Up Monetisation. They are the same product: Yunoo is the former name, Rise Up Monetisation is the current name. Screens, emails, and success messages can still show either.

Key elements
  • Stripe Connect: the path where Stripe creates a connected account in your name and handles identity verification in its own hosted form.
  • Activate Stripe: the button in the Monetisation backoffice that opens Stripe onboarding in a new tab.
  • Connected account: the Stripe account created for your organisation, later accessible at dashboard.stripe.com.
  • Allow online payment: the per-product setting in Products that lets a product be purchased online.
  • Payment mode: a per-product setting (Test or Live) that determines whether checkout uses test cards or real cards.
  • Stripe Dashboard: the full Stripe interface for tracking payments, customers, invoices, subscriptions, refunds, disputes, and payouts.

I — Open Monetisation backoffice

  1. Sign in to your Monetisation backoffice.
  2. In the left navigation, look for Activate Stripe.
  3. Click it. It opens Stripe in a new tab.

Result: A new tab opens showing the Stripe-hosted onboarding form.

If Activate Stripe is missing, payments are already marked active, or your account is not on the Connect path. Contact your Monetisation / Rise Up contact.

II — Complete Stripe-hosted onboarding

Stripe shows a branded form (Connect Onboarding). Typical screens:

  1. Confirm country and business type.
  2. Enter business details and confirm they match official registers.
  3. Enter representative (and owners, if asked).
  4. Upload documents if Stripe cannot verify from data alone.
  5. Add the bank account for payouts.
  6. Review public details (statement descriptor, support contacts).
  7. Accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's Privacy Policy.

You can use Save for later. Stripe then sends you back to Monetisation. You are not finished until Stripe has the information it currently requires.

If the Stripe page expires or errors

Onboarding links expire after a few minutes and can be used only once (including if you refresh or use the browser back button).

Expired link
Go back to Monetisation backoffice and click Activate Stripe again. Monetisation generates a new link.

III — Return to Monetisation

When you finish or save for later, Stripe redirects you to Monetisation. You should see a success message such as "Your stripe account was successfully created", then your products catalog.

That return means you entered and left the Stripe form correctly. It does not always mean Stripe has finished verifying you.

Status What it means What you do
Form completed, verification in progress Stripe is reviewing (often 24–48 hours) Wait; watch Stripe email and the Dashboard
Payments not yet enabled Information or documents still missing Click Activate Stripe again, or finish in the Stripe Dashboard
Restricted / action required Stripe needs more data or is reviewing risk Complete the tasks in the Stripe Dashboard
Payments and payouts enabled You can charge cards and receive payouts Enable online payment on products (section IV)

If Monetisation still shows Activate Stripe, open it again and complete any remaining steps.

IV — Enable payments on your catalog

After Stripe is active on the account:

  1. Open Products in backoffice.
  2. For each offering that should be paid online, enable Allow online payment (and fill Stripe product name / description if prompted).
  3. Leave Payment mode on Test until you want real money. Try a purchase with a Stripe test card (4242 4242 4242 4242).
  4. When you are ready to sell, set Payment mode to Live on that product, then try a small real purchase.
  5. Confirm the payment appears in dashboard.stripe.com and that the learner receives access as usual.
Expected block
Online payment on a product is blocked until Stripe is active on the tenant.

V — After go-live: your Stripe Dashboard

Log in at dashboard.stripe.com with the email used during onboarding.

Use the Dashboard to:

  • See payments, customers, invoices, and subscriptions created from Monetisation
  • Issue refunds and respond to disputes
  • Check balance and payouts to your bank
  • Update business details, bank account, and team access
  • Download reports for accounting
Good to know
Keep an eye on Stripe emails and the Dashboard banner. Requirements can change after you start processing. Complete any new requests promptly so charges or payouts are not paused.

What you do not need to configure (Connect)

On the Connect path, do not paste Stripe secret keys or webhook signing secrets into Monetisation unless your contact explicitly puts you on the standalone Stripe setup.

  • Do not create a Developers → Webhooks endpoint for Monetisation (the platform receives Connect events).
  • Do not share secret API keys with Monetisation.

If you were asked to create your own Stripe account and paste keys, that is the standalone path, not this guide. See your contact.

VI — Test mode and Live mode

You choose this per product, in backoffice: Payment mode.

Payment mode What happens
Test (default) Checkout uses Stripe test cards (4242 4242 4242 4242). No real money. Use this to check the product and payment flow.
Live Real cards and real payouts. Switch a product to Live only when you want to sell it.
Do not mix modes
Do not mix Test and Live products in the same cart. A test card will not work on a Live product.

Troubleshooting

I already have a Stripe account.
During Standard Connect onboarding you can often sign in with that Stripe email and password instead of creating a new login. If the existing account is already linked to another platform, tell your Monetisation contact; Stripe Support may need the account IDs.

Activate Stripe opens then immediately comes back.
The previous link expired or was already opened. Click Activate Stripe again from backoffice. Do not bookmark or share the Stripe URL.

Learners pay but I do not see payouts.
Check Dashboard → Payouts. Confirm the bank account, payout schedule, and that the account is not restricted. Verification can allow charges before payouts (or the reverse) depending on what Stripe still needs.

Stripe asked for more documents after we already sold trainings.
That is expected when volume or risk thresholds change. Complete the request in the Dashboard. Until then, charges or payouts can be limited.

We use a mobile app or a custom in-app browser.
Finish onboarding in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge on the desktop.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Online payment stays blocked on a product.
Solution: Stripe is not yet active on the account. Finish onboarding first (sections I to III) before enabling Allow online payment.

Issue: A test card is declined.
Solution: The product is likely already set to Live Payment mode. Test cards only work on products in Test mode, and vice versa.

Issue: The success message shows "Yunoo" instead of "Rise Up Monetisation."
Solution: That is expected. Yunoo is the former name of the same product; some screens are not yet updated.

Issue: The Activate Stripe button cannot be found in the menu.
Solution: Payments are already active, or the account is not on the Connect path. Contact your Monetisation / Rise Up contact.

  • Do I need to create API keys or a webhook endpoint?
    — No, not on the Connect path. Monetisation handles this automatically. Pasting secret keys is only needed on the standalone setup, explicitly indicated by your contact.

Can I forward the onboarding link to my accountant or a colleague?
    — No. The link is single-use and exposes account-holder data. Each person should access it from the Activate Stripe button in backoffice.

What happens if I use "Save for later"?
    — Stripe sends you back to Monetisation, but onboarding is only finished once Stripe has all the information it currently requires.

Does the success message mean I can charge immediately?
    — Not always. It only confirms you left the Stripe form correctly; verification can still be in progress (often 24–48 hours).

Can I complete onboarding from my phone?
    — No, it must be done from a desktop web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge), not from an in-app browser.
