Access to the Rise Up platform with Administrator, Designer, or Author rights — these last two roles being the ones who work on the customisation of courses and learning paths, although they have no permission to manage customisation settings.
Use of an image or video editing tool to adjust dimensions beforehand if needed.
Basic understanding of image formats and resolution settings.
See the definition of a Favicon and its required dimension (256x256)

This guide presents the recommended dimensions and formats for all images, videos, and banners used on the Rise Up platform (login pages, logos, courses, homepage, mobile app). What Is a Favicon?

A Favicon, or 'favorite icon' is a small graphical icon associated with a website or web page. It generally appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, shortcuts, and the address bar. Using a favicon is important for brand recognition, as it helps users identify your site more easily among others.

IV. Customising the Default Homepage (Images & Widget Banners)

Go to your settings via 'Settings', then in the 'Homepage' menu select 'Customisation'. Expand the 'Default homepage customisation' section to find the 'Banner' block (image/video) and the 'Carousel' block.

DefaultHomepage_banner_en.png
Settings > Homepage > Customisation > Default homepage customisation

For the 'Banner' block, then choose the desired position (on the left panel or on the dashboard): the recommended image dimension depends on the size of the widget corresponding to that position.

Dimensions applicable in Default homepage customisation > Banner :

Widget size Recommended dimensions
Small widget 270 x 180 pixels
Medium widget 500 x 500 pixels
Large widget 1350 x 230 pixels

HTML Widget Banners on the Homepage

Independently of the 'Banner' block described above, the homepage can also include custom HTML widgets (from Settings > Homepage > Customisation). These widgets display a banner in three block formats (Large x Large, Large x Medium, Medium x Medium). Each format corresponds to a different placement in the homepage layout.

Widget format Recommended dimensions
LxL (Large x Large) 1350 x 635 pixels
LxM (Large x Medium) 1350 x 309 pixels
MxM (Medium x Medium) 667 x 309 pixels

Best practice: always resize your image beforehand, using the editing tool of your choice, to precisely match the dimension of the chosen HTML banner format (LxL, LxM, or MxM) before importing it. An image imported at the wrong dimension may be automatically cropped or distorted when displayed.

V. Maximum File Size on Your Rise Up Platform

Web Platform

The maximum file size is 500 MB, except when editing your course where the description video can reach up to 5 GB maximum.

Mobile Platform

File size limits for different types on the mobile app:

Images: 15 MB
Videos: 500 MB
Documents: 500 MB

FAQ & Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Images appear stretched or distorted.
Solution: Check that the image matches exactly the format and ratio specified for this location (see the summary table at the top of the article).

Issue: The video does not play correctly.
Solution: Check the resolution and compatibility of the video format.

Issue: The homepage widget banner is displayed cropped.
Solution: Resize the image beforehand to the exact format of the chosen widget (small 270x180, medium 500x500, large 1350x230, or for HTML widgets: LxL 1350x635, LxM 1350x309, MxM 667x309) before importing it.

Issue: A user cannot find the customisation menus.
Solution: Check that they have an Administrator role; roles with restricted permissions do not have access to these settings.
  • Can I use the same image for different sections?
Yes, but make sure it matches the required dimensions for each section.

What happens if I import an image with the wrong dimensions?
The platform may automatically resize or crop the image, which can cause distortion.

What is the difference between the LxL, LxM, and MxM widget banner formats?
They correspond to three different placements in the homepage layout; each requires an image resized to its exact dimension for optimal rendering.
