Administrator access is required to configure a learning path for the catalogue, manage registration rules, and enable the learning path agreement. Additional roles have narrower access to specific parts of this workflow:
- Designers assigned to a learning path can edit its catalogue configuration, even if they did not create it.
- Users in charge of registrations can view and approve learning path registration requests.
- Group Managers can access the manage learning path page and a learner's learning path progression, in view mode only.
- Training Managers can generate the learning path agreement from the learning path board.
- Admins with access to legal documents can enable, disable, and customise the learning path agreement template.
Contact your Administrator if your role does not have the permissions needed to complete a step in this article.
A learning path can now be presented and made available in the catalogue, the same way a course already is. Learners can discover a learning path, understand its content and duration, and register or request registration to it directly — without an administrator manually enrolling them. Around this, learning path management gains the tools already available for courses: dedicated registration administration, progression tracking for Group Managers, and a training agreement generated at the learning path level.
The learning path catalogue workflow follows these main stages:
- 1Configure a learning path for the catalogue — banner, designers, category, overview, access, and registration settings
- 2Manage visibility and scope — resolve learning path and course visibility together
- 3Publish and browse the learning path in the catalogue
- 4Manage learning path registration requests
- 5Track a learner's progression across the learning path
- 6Generate the learning path training agreement
A learning path is never added to the catalogue by default. Making it visible there is always an explicit action taken by a designer or administrator, and existing catalogue behaviour for courses is unchanged.
- Designers: one or more users who can manage a learning path's catalogue configuration, independently of who created it.
- Access & visibility: settings that determine who can see and reach a learning path — resolved separately from each course's own visibility.
- Scope: the perimeter a learning path belongs to; editable after creation, and restricted to the scope of its linked courses once courses are added.
- Registration request: a learner-initiated request to join a learning path that requires administrator approval before it is confirmed.
- Catalogue filter: a toggle in the catalogue that switches the listing between courses and learning paths.
- Learning path registrations (admin section): a dedicated area with two views — viewing registrations and approving registration requests.
- Learning path agreement ("convention de parcours de formation"): a legal training agreement generated at the learning path level, covering every course it contains.
I. Configure a learning path for the catalogue
Audience: Designer, Administrator.
Go to: Learning path edition.
Learning path creation and edition include the fields needed to present a learning path in the catalogue, in the same tabs used for a course.
Overview tab
- Add a Banner — same format as a course banner, automatically proposed by Unsplash.
- Add one or more Designers — any user added here can manage the learning path even if they did not create it.
- Select a Category.
-
Complete the description, an optional video,
an
internal reference, the educational objectives,
and the learning path company.
Parameters > Access & visibility tab
- Check Is accessible to allow learners to reach the learning path.
- Use Is visible for everyone in catalogue except to show the learning path by default and exclude specific learners or groups.
- Use Is invisible for everyone in catalogue except to hide the learning path by default and grant visibility to specific learners or groups.
Parameters > Registrations tab
- Check Enable registration to allow learners to register to the learning path from the catalogue.
- Choose whether registrations need approval — this determines whether a learner's click results in immediate self-registration or a registration request.
- Optionally check Enable unregistrations to let learners leave the learning path themselves.
- Configure the registration email sent when a registration is confirmed.
Result: The learning path is fully described and its registration behaviour defined. It is not yet visible in the catalogue — publishing it is a separate, explicit action performed from learning path edition.
II. Manage visibility and scope
Audience: Designer, Administrator.
Two levels of visibility apply at the same time and are resolved independently:
- The learning path's own visibility controls whether a learner can access the learning path itself.
- Each course's visibility continues to control access to that course, whether it is reached from a learning path or directly.
A learner can therefore see a learning path in the catalogue while a specific course inside it remains restricted by its own visibility settings, and vice versa.
Scope: the learning path's scope is editable after creation, the same as a course's. When no courses are linked yet, the scope is unrestricted. Once courses are linked, the available scope is limited to the scope of those linked courses.
III. Browse and register to a learning path in the catalogue
Audience: Learner.
Go to: Catalogue.
- Use the new filter to switch the catalogue listing between courses and learning paths.
- Open a learning path to view its dedicated learning path page: its general description, its content — every course with their modules and steps — a download of the learning path program, and the total duration (the sum of its courses).
- Click Register or Request registration, depending on whether approval is required.
Result: A self-registration confirms the learner immediately; a registration request is created and appears in the learning path registration administration (Section IV) until an administrator processes it.
IV. Manage learning path registration requests
Audience: Administrator, user in charge of registrations.
Go to: Left-side menu > Learning path registrations.
- Open View learning path registrations to see every existing registration, confirmed or pending, across all learning paths.
- Open Approve learning path registrations to see only the requests waiting for a decision.
- Select a pending request and click Accept or Refuse.
Result: An accepted request registers the learner to the learning path and triggers the configured registration email; a refused request is closed and the learner is not registered.
V. Track a learner's progression across the learning path
Audience: Administrator, Group Manager (view mode).
Go to: Manage learning path page > a learner's row.
- Open the manage learning path page for the relevant learning path.
- Select a learner to open their user learning path progression page.
- Review progression course by course, alongside registration data that now distinguishes a course taken standalone from the same course taken inside a learning path.
Result: Administrators can edit registrations from this page; Group Managers see the same manage learning path page and progression page, but in view mode only, with no editing actions available.
VI. Generate the learning path training agreement
Audience: Training Manager, Administrator (legal documents).
Enable and customise the agreement (Administrator)
- Go to: Documents administration > legal documents.
- Enable or disable the learning path agreement per perimeter — it is enabled by default as a separate document from the course agreement.
- Customise its template; a default legal document template is attached out of the box.
- Retrieve, re-download, or regenerate previously issued agreements from documents administration.
Generate an agreement (Training Manager)
- Go to: Learning path board.
- Select the learners the agreement should cover, then start the same three-step form used for the course agreement.
-
Review the prefilled fields:
- Duration — the sum of the courses in the learning path.
- Registered learners selected in the previous step.
- Classroom sessions, labelled by the course they belong to; custom dates remain possible.
- Skills — the union of the linked courses' skills; prerequisites are not printed on the agreement.
- Nature of the training action, prefilled with "action de formation" and editable.
- Complete the form and generate the agreement.
Result: One agreement is produced for the whole learning path, with an annex listing its courses and modules, satisfying articles L.6353-1 and L.6353-2 of the French labour code (parties, training action, duration, dates, price, and terms).
FAQ & Troubleshooting
-
Issue: A learning path does not appear in the catalogue even though it looks complete.
Solution: Publishing to the catalogue is a separate, explicit action from editing the learning path. Confirm the learning path is flagged as available in the catalogue, and check its Access & visibility settings for the affected learner or group.
Issue: A learner sees a learning path in the catalogue but cannot access one of its courses.
Solution: Learning path visibility and course visibility are resolved independently. Open the affected course and review its own Access & visibility settings; making the learning path visible does not change them.
Issue: Clicking to register produces a pending request instead of an immediate registration.
Solution: The learning path's registration settings require approval. Check Approve learning path registrations to process it, or adjust the setting in Parameters > Registrations if approval is not intended.
Issue: A classroom session is greyed out in the registration modal.
Solution: The session is already selected through another learning path the learner is registered to. The tooltip on the greyed-out session indicates this; a learner cannot hold the same session through two paths at once.
Issue: The learning path agreement is missing for a given learning path.
Solution: The learning path agreement must be enabled for the relevant perimeter in documents administration, and is only available for classic learning paths.
-
Can a learning path be visible in the catalogue by default?
— No. Adding a learning path to the catalogue is always an explicit action; no learning path appears there automatically.
Does publishing a learning path to the catalogue change its courses' visibility?
— No. Learning path visibility and course visibility are two independent settings, resolved together but configured separately.
Can skills be configured directly on a learning path?
— No. A learning path inherits the skills of its linked courses; skills remain managed at the course level.
What happens if the learning path's creator leaves the organisation?
— Any user added as a Designer on the learning path retains access to manage it, so it is not tied solely to its original creator.
Can a Group Manager edit a learner's learning path registration?
— No. Group Managers access the manage learning path page and the user learning path progression page in view mode only.
Does the learning path agreement replace the course agreement?
— No. It is a separate document. Generating a learning path agreement does not affect the existing course-level agreement, its content, form, or template.
Can I generate one learning path agreement per learner?
— Not currently. The agreement is generated for a selected group of learners at once, one agreement per generation. -
