Skill Translation Management — Simplify and Scale Multilingual Content

  • Updated

Prerequisites You must have access to Admin permissions to manage Skill translations.
Skill translations can be managed at two levels: per individual Skill or across all Skills for a selected target language.

Overview

Skill Translation Management allows administrators to harmonise and manage Skill translations across the platform through a standardised translation workflow.

This update aligns Skill translation behaviour with the unified translation framework already used for other translated objects on the platform, while giving administrators clearer tools to manage translations individually or in bulk.

The translation workflow covers three main areas:

  1. Translate a single Skill
  2. Manage one target language across all Skills
  3. Generate translations automatically and monitor progression

This helps simplify multilingual Skill management, reduce manual effort and support more consistent translation workflows.

Key elements

  1. Unified translation framework — Skill translations now follow the same standardised translation logic as other translated objects on the platform.
  2. Individual and bulk management — translations can be managed per Skill or across all Skills for one target language.
  3. Auto translation support — translations can be generated automatically at Skill level or in bulk for a selected language.
  4. Progress visibility — administrators can monitor translation progression by language across the full Skill repository.

I — Access Skill Translation Management

Skill translations are managed from the Skills administration interface by accessing your admin menu via the burger menu .

From this interface, you can:

  • Manage the translation of an individual Skill
  • Manage all translations for a selected language across all Skills
  • Add new target languages
  • Generate translations automatically
  • Go to your burger menu to access the skills menu, then click on 'View'.

II — Translate a Single Skill

Manage translations entry is available for each Skill in the Skills administration list.

This opens a dedicated translation page for the selected Skill, using the standard translation framework.

  1. Go to Skills > View.
  2. Locate the Skill you want to translate.
  3. Open the Actions menu for the Skill.
  4. Click Manage translations.
  5. Select or add a target language.
  6. Edit the translated fields for the Skill.
  7. Save the translation.

The following fields can be translated:

  • Skill name
  • Skill description

Good to know
Auto translation is available at individual Skill level for the selected target language.

III — Manage Translations Across All Skills

Manage all translations entry is available from the Skills administration index.

This page provides a bulk view of Skill translations by language.

  1. Click Manage all translations.
  2. Review the list of available languages.
  3. Check the translation progression for each language.
  4. Open a language to manage translations across all Skills.

From this interface, administrators can:

  • View all available target languages
  • Manage one target language across all Skills
  • Monitor translation progression per language
  • Add a new language

Good to know
The bulk management page focuses on one target language at a time across the full Skills catalogue.

IV — Generate Translations Automatically

Auto translation is available to speed up multilingual deployment and reduce manual work.

You can use it in two ways:

  • At Skill level for a specific target language
  • At bulk level across all Skills for a selected target language
  1. Open the Skill translation page or the Manage all translations page.
  2. Select the target language you want to populate.
  3. Click Generate translation or Generate all translations.
  4. Review the generated content.
  5. Save your changes if needed.

Important
Auto generated translations should always be reviewed before being relied on in a production context.

V — Manage Language Accessibility

Each target language can also be configured as Accessible or Inaccessible.

This allows administrators to control whether translated Skills are available to users in that language.

  1. Go to Skills > Manage translations.
  2. Open the action menu for the target language.
  3. Open Manage accessibility.
  4. Select Accessible or Inaccessible.
  5. Click Save.

Important
If a translation is made inaccessible while some users are using that language on the platform, they will see all Skills in the default language if available, or otherwise in the source language.
